YOBO

In search for young, energetic and uncompromising bands, who hold the speed of music equally important as the music itself, one must pay attention to band "Yobo", whose debut album was just released under an agile new label "Ammonite Records" (yobocrew@hotmail.com). The title of the album goes hand in hand with their blunt, accompanying message, which the band sends first off by the intensity of their belief and then by powerful sound arrangements, with each and every one of their tracks: "Watch out! New Breed Is Coming!"
Finally the time has come for the new, different people who have nothing to do with the stale local Rock n’ Roll scene, and who are ready not only to talk and sing about changes, but to directly contribute to them. That is not an easy task, but is however necessary.

"Yobo", judging by their debut album, belongs to such kind of bands. Like a forced product of a generation that belongs to a hectic era where nothing good happened for ages, they are aware they can’t lose what they never had to begin with. It is from there that they derive their strength to push forward like a bulldozer, not looking back at media and opinions of those who don’t belong to their circles. That circle – according to the unmistakable analogy with past times – make people who choose a particular music to convey their feelings, attitudes and frustrations; to use that music as an expressive catapult, that has the creation of a certain lifestyle, or at least a life philosophy for its maximum range. I neither know where Yobo will be in a few years from now, nor how long will they be able to endure in their efforts to be who they are, but I do know I hold dear all the rock’n roll guys who refuse to put trust in attractive promises made by establishments, but instead, continue to walk down the road they sincerely believe their own.

I also hold dear all the girls, who hold an equal place in the contemporary mix of local music, who stand witness with their extraordinary energetic female vocals, like the one that can be found on one of the three most effective tracks – "Snowman". The other two are "Just Do It" and "Candy".
